  1. Laura,
Some of the college kids have expressed interest in getting a group of them together to come hear Yard Sale at Java Joe’s. Looks like your next gig is Valentine’s Day?? Let me know if that’s correct, although it may not be a good night for college kids…unless they don’t have a valentine. Ha!

  2. Griff, I want to tell you what an inspiration you have been for me. First I want to explain that I’m 51, been divorced an alone for the past 4 years, I’m a production manager that has gone through some very challenging times. I’ve been forced to reduce my work force from 257 people to 28. Sending all of that work to China. So you probably can understand I was going home after those long 10 hours days feeling pretty depressed and lonely.
I played guitar back about 25 years ago then stopped. About 5 months ago I was searching youtube and came across one of your lessons. I said to myself you can do that. The very next day I went down to the music shop and purchased a Stratocaster and started watching and learning from your videos. It’s hard to explain but it was like a door opened up and I walked through. I now own a Fender Cyber Champ amp and a knock off Gibson LesPaul (Davison) a Morley wah-wah and 3 blues DVD’s. I’m very focused on the blues. I try to practice every day for 2 hours. I totally enjoy what I’m doing on the guitar and have progressed quickly. Right now I’m working on phrasing and understanding the different cords I can play to dig in and get that cool blues groove.
What a great person you are to me. You have sparked a hidden talent in me that I didn’t know was there. I could go on an on although I’m sure you can understand where I’m coming from. Thanks for the lessons, emails and inspiration. I hope someday I can meet you in person to express my thanks and show you what I’ve taught myself.

  3. Hey Guys…

Great show last night at Java Joe’s. Looking forward to your next gig.

  4. Griff, Laura and the rest of the band. Great job last night (April 10th) at Java Joe’s.!! This was our first time watching you perform after wanting to over the past years. So it’s a good thing your folks came to town for a visit, Griff, and they invited us to join them!! We plan to see you all at another gig in the near future. Will watch your calendar since we now know the name of your band. We live in Huntington Beach. Would like to see you do some blues sometime also. Keep up the good work.

  5. Hi there Mrs. Laura Hamlin! No disrespect intended if, for old times sake, I refer to you as Ms. McGee =P It has been a long 6 years since I first walked in to your band room as a scrawny 7th grade trumpet player at Pioneer. We missed you and your expertise the following year and in the years to come as talented but unprepared music students emerged from the Jr. High program. I myself nearly quit after 8th grade but pushed on to ultimately lead pretty much all of the top instrumental music programs at the high school, thanks for preparing me to do so. =) I immediately recognized you in a “Yard Sale” photo in a Lake Arrowhead publication recently and had to drop by to see if it was really you! I wish you, your husband, and the band only the best in the future and hope these transpired years have treated you all with exceptional kindness. Email me if you get the chance, and I hope to be seeing you all at a show!
P.S. Fight on Griff! I audition for Thornton soon
